Overview

Did your Valentine's Day not go to plan? Then this party might just fix your broken heart. On Thursday, February 15, Karangahape Road is holding a free streetwide Anti-Valentine's party celebrating the messiness of love, with a lineup of events and experiences to titillate even the most cold-hearted of Valentine's grinches.

Tell your ex how you really feel at Red Bar's Letters to an Ex open mic night, where you can fulfil one of your most evil fantasies: making fun of a former lover in front of a cackling audience. The experts will then take the stage, with comedians Matthew Crawley and Barnie Duncan exploring the statement 'love is not as funny as not-love'. The night will be wrapped up by Kiki Kisses, who will be showing off her seductive burlesque moves.

Go from the streets to the sheets at the Lovers' Den, where sexologist Marie Joy will answer anything and everything for 15 minutes. If you're not looking for advice, put on your blindfold and take a seat at the Deliciously Unromantic Dining table, or swap your clothes for a costume made out of body paint. If you're looking for something more permanent, Ōtautahi Tattoo will be offering discounted flash tattoos all night.

Karangahape Road's beloved eateries will also be getting into the swing of things, with a Broken Hearts happy hour at Coco's Cantina, a special love-hating cocktail menu at Tomfoolery and a $60 set menu on offer at Bar Magda.

Along the road all evening will be a lineup of roaming entertainers and artists. Think: drag artists, contortionists, burlesque performers, musicians and more. Just make sure you don't get hit by Cupid's fiery arrow.
