Overview

There have to be a few perks when the temperatures drop. Snow on the mountains, mulled wine and roaring fires are all positives. But if you can’t get to down to a mountain, don’t like mulled wine and the closest thing you have to a roaring fire is a crusty old bar heater, fear not. There is still one thing that might make winter a little cooler for you.

Back by popular demand is the Aotea Square Ice Rink. Yes, an outdoor ice rink in Auckland’s CBD, and this round they have introduced a 35 metre, multi-level ice slide.

So instead of shuffling home to huddle around your heater why not pop down to Aotea Square for a casual dash of gliding across the ice? You can rent skates there (or BYO) and even sort yourself out with some lessons if you fancy yourself not quite the budding young Nancy Kerrigan.

The fully covered the rink will be open seven days a week, rain or shine, which means that basically any time is a good time to don some glorious blades and take to the ice.

Open weekends 10am - 10pm, weekdays 12noon - 10pm.
