Overview

US Editor Jacquelin Cangro, who has worked as an editor for Penguin Random House and other publishers for more than 20 years, is taking appointments on Friday, 17 May with eight lucky writers to give them some thoughtful and constructive feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of a piece of their writing.

Writers of all genres and of all abilities (beginners especially welcome) will be given the opportunity to submit up to 5000 words of a first chapter or completed short story for review. Getting your writing reviewed is easy, you just have to book an appointment slot before anyone else can nab it and have a spare $80 to invest in your literary growth.

Once accepted, the Festival will put you in touch with Cangro by email. On receipt of your writing sample, she will send a reply email setting out what to expect at the consult, where she will provide both verbal and written feedback.

Appointments run all day from 9.15am through to 3pm. Those who weren't able to book to have their fledgling book reviewed are still free to stop into the space and hear Jacquelin's feedback on others' work for free.
