Overview

Vintage tape enthusiast and Neil Young aficionado, Arthur Ahbez, will play Auckland's Golden Dawn: Tavern of Power on March 29.

After parting ways with his first band Welfare Mothers, the Auckland musician spent two years writing and recording via an 8 track tape deck he apparently found underneath some flannel shirts. The end product was an acid folk album by the name of Gold which saw its release last August.

Ahbez will perform with his four/five-piece band Superbird, made up of brothers Chanan (bass) and Rikihana Douglas (drums), Anton Tennet (organ) Thod Schmit (percussion), and occasionally Michael Barnett (lead guitar).
