Overview

It's time to get on your bike and see some art. Artweek's cycle art tours are back, with the choice of several routes: Ponsonby to Parnell, Parnell to Ponsonby, CBD and Waterfront, Newmarket to K Road and K Road to Newmarket. My top pick is K Road to Newmarket—K Road is home to some of Auckland's best art galleries and artist run spaces. It's the place to go to see emerging artists and experimental artwork that's testing the boundaries and shaping the future of Auckland's contemporary art scene. The Newmarket run has a stronger focus on dealer galleries and therefore a more conservative approach to art. The cycle tour is a great opportunity to see a wide spectrum of artwork on one trip will surely expose everyone to new ideas and engaging discussion material.

Each of the tours is limited to 25 places and bookings are essential. If you haven't cycled in a while, don't worry, you will be accompanied by three safety riders who will keep an eye of the group and make sure all is well. If you don't own a bike you can borrow one provided by Auckland Transport.
