Overview

Auckland Heritage Festival 2012 features events which allow us to reconnect with our city's many historical layers - and with a bit of luck, we'll discover something completely new about our unique city along the way.

Auckland's communities have rich and vibrant stories. The downloadable programme covers over 200 events including heritage walks, talks and tours, special events and exhibitions which gives you heaps of choice but could make the selection process just a little overwhelming. My advice would be to pick a few events pertaining to your suburb's heritage, or pick an area you know little about and learn their stories.

There are events ranging from Victorian dancing lessons at Highwic,  to learning how to research your relatives' military service, a guided walk around Devonport's volcanoes and a tour of the historic rugby memorabilia at Ponsonby Rugby open day.
