Overview

The Auckland Writers and Readers Festival showcases some of the best contemporary literature out there by bringing together a talented troupe of writers, readers and thinkers.

One hundred and fifty speakers from New Zealand and around the world will appear in more than 100 events in the largest Auckland Writers and Readers Festival programme yet. It's headed up by such literary giants as Kate Atkinson, William Dalrymple and Anita Desai.

If an hour with a highly acclaimed author doesn't appeal though, there are also plenty of workshops and discussions on a wide-ranging bunch of topics including politics, sport, conflict, science, architecture and music.
