Overview

Zines are self-made, self-published websites, magazines, books or papers, featuring artworks, poems, stories and opinions that are often too controversial or niche for mainstream media. They provide an outlet for up-and-coming creatives and have been a part of some of history's most exciting movements — from punk to feminism and everything in between. Unbeknownst to most, there's a thriving community of zine publishers right here in our city.

Pop along to the Auckland Zinefest Market at Auckland Art Gallery and witness this energetic alternative culture for yourself. At least 80 local zine makers will be present peddling zines covering science, gender politics, comic books, design and countless other topics. There's free parking in the Victoria St carpark and make sure you bring a bit of cash as vendors will be selling their zines individually.
