The gig that will see you walk out smiling hits The Studio on K Rd on Sat July 30th. Avalanche City started as a one-man band (literally) but has embraced the 'city' part of its name much more of late.
Expect to see a full gang of musicians on stage wielding instruments ranging from piano accordions to a manjo - that's a mandolin crossed with a banjo bred for its skills in musical magic (not just a banjo for men). Despite lead singer Dave's hardcore and heavy metal background (blame his time in Hamilton), Avalanche City is much more than a feel good indie-pop group.
Playing tracks from their debut album, My New Life Above the Ground, you'll know songs like 'Love, Love, Love' but some others will be new found glories. All will get your toes tapping and maybe even your knees jiggling. Take someone to hold hands with for the ultimate cute experience.
