Overview

While on his OE in 2015, Jock Nowell-Usticke uploaded his first song to SoundCloud. After losing his laptop he discovered his track had become a viral hit one week later.

Two years on, Baynk has appeared at Laneway festival and been named Apple Music's 'New Artist of the Week'. His new single 'Come Home', which features Chicago producer Shallou, was picked up by YouTube channel 'Chill Nation' on July 15 and has already amassed over half a million views.

The way Baynk decided to start making tunes and choose his stage name epitomises his music bravado. Looking at a list of 20 names, he figured this one looked best on paper. It was also a gut decision that encouraged Baynk to transition from engineering student to quitting university stating, "I'm going to make some electronic dance floor bangers".

You'll be able to hear his debut bangers plus much more in his first headline shows at Wellington's Meow on September 1 and Auckland's REC on September 2.
