Beervana 2021
This year's big boozy festival features bumper birthdays, overseas visitors and more.
Overview
In 2021, Beervana is celebrating its 20th year with an unmissable lineup — featuring birthdays, a host of debutant breweries and, perhaps most excitingly of all, visitors from overseas.
Held during Wellington On a Plate's bumper culinary weekend, from Friday, August 13–Saturday, August 14, Beervana is the perfect opportunity to indulge in all things beer at the festival's halfway mark. More than 75 beer and culinary exhibitors will pack out Sky Stadium, with the venue's circular layout conducive to a leisurely day out with friends.
Among the exhibitors you'll find seven breweries flying in from Australia, along with eight local breweries attending for the first time: Cowabunga Brewing (Auckland), Derelict Brewing (Rangiora), Rhyme and Reason (Wanaka), The Beer Engine (Porirua), The Occasional Brewer (Wellington), The Emporium Brewing (Kaikoura), Three Sisters (New Plymouth) and Buzz Club Mead (Hawkes Bay).
Along with celebrating two decades of Beervana, this year's event sees several Wellington breweries marking some milestone birthdays as well. Parrotdog and Garage Project hit the 10-year mark, Tuatara celebrate its 21st and several other New Zealand breweries turn 15 this year.
It's not all beer, though — there will also be hard seltzer, natural wine, ciders and mead on offer for those who want to mix it up. And with two live sound stages and street performances providing the entertainment, a fun day out is practically guaranteed.
