Last year Parnell's La Cigale and the Auckland Food Truck Collective attracted thousands of hungry punters for an evening entirely dedicated to fried chicken. For their first collaboration of 2019 the pair are set to celebrate the humble burger.

As part of the French market's much-loved food truck series, where local vendors are encouraged to serve interpretations of classic food items, the Big Beautiful Burgers event will see the city's best mobile cooks assemble to serve their take on the classic combination of patty and bun.

Already signed up for the event on Thursday, 4 April are no-fuss burger makers Jo-Bros, Nashville-style poultry truck Peach's Hot Chicken, plant-based burger joint Wise Boys, cured meat specialists Bacon Brothers, pork belly sandwich van The Hungry Swine, low 'n' slow experts Dixie Barbecue and European chippery Double Dutch Fries.
