Overview

It's once again time to deck out your two wheeler with fairy lights, adorn a glitzy costume and cruise the streets of Auckland with an entire bike gang. Yes, Bike Rave is back.

This year's roaming cycle tour starts with a carpark party on the corner of Ian McKinnon Drive and Upper Queen Street. There'll be a chance for you to show off your bike creation and have a boogie to a live DJ before the 6.5-kilometre sunset cruise sets off.

The ride will head along the northwestern bike path to Waterview, where you'll roll into Eric Armishaw Park along a boardwalk over a field of mangroves. Then, the kaleidoscopic bike gang will park up and party next to the water's edge for a silent disco. Refreshments will be provided to recharge you for the journey home, or for the nocturnal return leg.

Bike Rave is a free ticketed event — you can register here — and is presented by not-for-profit organisation Bike Auckland. The rain date is Sunday, 14 February.
