Overview

Ever wondered what happens when an illustrator-cum-graphic designer-cum-motion designer joins forces with a composer-cum-coder-cum-designer-cum-gamemaker? Nope, us neither. But thanks to French artists Guillaumit and Yann Van der Cruyssen, now we know; their talents mix, mingle and eventually give birth to an entirely new digital world called Blockwith.

You could call it a microcosm of society - human life stripped of all it's complexity yet retaining its most basic acts. The unique avatar each audience member creates either builds, decorates or destroys colourful blocks, collaborating with its fellows to form a whole new dimension. It's intriguing in both its simplicity and its beauty, and will appeal to kids - the little and big kind.

Never before seen on Kiwi shores, Blockwith is a unique exhibition that is not to be missed. It can be found on Level 2 of the Aotea Centre and is exhibited on the Auckland Live screen as well as at White Night on March 12. All you need is yourself, a mobile phone and an open mind. But just in case you forget your device, iPads will be available to attendees.
