Overview

Ladies it’s time to don your fascinator and fish your best dress out of the cupboard. Lads, tighten up your bow ties and switch those jandles for your shiny black leathers; because the Boxing Day Races are just around the corner. Auckland’s most renowned and salubrious day of high fashion, champagne and thoroughbred racing, has been a fixture on our city's social calendar for over 150 years. There’s entertainment for kids throughout the day as well as budget and expensive options for entry, so you’ve got no excuses this year.

It’s well worth it to get up close and personal with the best jockeys and thoroughbreds New Zealand has to offer, to soak up the excitement of the race and perhaps try your luck on a cheeky punt or two. I’m wiping the dust off my best gears and Googling "how to tie a bow tie", so ladies and gents I suggest you do the same - I’ll see you down there with bells on.
