Overview

Brazil is coming to Auckland — or at least enough of its food, music and humans to make Rocket Park in Mount Albert feel like a lot like Brazil for one afternoon in January.

The Brazilian Day Festival is the largest Brazilian festival in New Zealand. The fifth edition of the Brazilian Day Festival sees the festival take on a 'Brazil Carnival' vibe, which means a lot of drums (a lot of music in general), a lot of vibrant colours and a lot of Brazilian women wearing giant, quite painful looking but really pretty head pieces while doing really tricky dance steps all the while keeping an effortless smile on their faces.

Organisers encourage those going to also get into the Brazilian carnival spirit and dress up for the day.

Rocket Park will be lined with food stalls, Brazilian inspired workshops, an amusement park for anyone identifying as a kid from 11am to 7pm. For those itching to travel to South America, the Brazilian Day Festival be a nice cultural taster — and for those itching to go back, a nice cultural hit until they can save up enough money and/or leave to make a trip back.
