Overview
Just as we unleash an extensive guide to stuffing your face with doughnuts and the season for drinking copious amounts of red wine comes knocking, Britomart's Health Week returns to give us a wake up call and a much needed lesson in mental, physical and spiritual wellness.
Held from June 13 - 19 across the downtown precinct, the seven-day wellness gala will feature everything from guest speakers, free workouts, cooking masterclasses and financial consultations.
With breakfast being the most important meal of the day, holistic nutritionist and health food chef Angela Merrie will dish up advice on the best things to eat in the morning, before whipping up a plant-based offering free of grains, gluten, sugars and dairy. A new collaboration titled Lady Gardens of NZ will also serve up a nutritious breakfast, this time ahead of an in-depth panel exploring wellness in the nether regions.
Further program highlights include Little Bird Unbakery founder Megan May presenting a cooking demonstration of recipes from the organic eatery's new app and nutritious snack foods that can replace the customary afternoon cookie. Ryder Salon's Greg Murrell will take a holistic look at how to achieve optimum hair health and wellbeing, with one-on-one consultations on how to look after your locks.
Unfortunately its not all eating and listening, and physical activity will also be on the cards. Les Mills will lead a midday GRIT Cardio class; Nike Training Club will host a 60-minute circuit incorporating high intensity training, running and pilates, and Lululemon will round off the week with a free yoga class.
