Overview
One of the longest running shows in West End and Broadway history is digging its claws into Auckland this September.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS has an impressive history. It premiered in 1981 at the New London Theatre, playing for a record breaking 21 years and 9,000 performances. Since then, it’s been presented in 30 countries, 15 languages and has been seen by over 73 million people worldwide. Not bad for a bunch of grownups in cat costumes.
Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, these famous felines are coming out to play, sing and in this 2015 version of the 80’s classic – rap and breakdance. This revival of the original has had critical success in London and an extended season due to its popularity. So if you’re a CATS enthusiast, this might be a new version for the memory.
