Overview

In his first headline show in New Zealand, popular rapper Common is coming to Auckland. After a brief appearance in Kiwi-land for Soulfest in 2014 the four-time Grammy Award-winner is playing at the Powerstation in what should be an epic event of musical greatness. Known for lyrical distinction, poetic rhymes and a smooth sound, Common these days is also a respected actor, author, youth ambassador and TV and film producer.

Common has released ten successful albums and received countless accolades for each. In 2015 Common received a Golden Globe Award as well as an Academy Award for Best Original Song in his work for the motion picture Selma, which he also starred in. The song 'Glory' received much critical praise and can be found on his tenth album Nobody's Smiling. He's currently working to aspire youth throughout the US with his Common Ground Foundation.

The show will be opened by Team Dynamite and the boys tell Concrete Playground they are excited to see Common, "We're big fans of Common but also seeing Talib Kweli will be great. The whole thing is going to be amazing."

Talib joins Common and has become regarded as one of most "lyrically gifted, socially aware and politically insightful rappers to emerge within the last 20 years". Between Team Dynamite and the collaboration between Common and Talib, the night is set to be a hip hop showcase of talent and a representation of dedication and following a dream.
