Overview
Meat lovers have another event to circle on the calendar. The Culley's Smoke & Spice Festival 2021 is set to land on Friday, September 3 and Saturday, September 4, bringing smoky barbecue, hot sauce and ice-cool bevies to Auckland's waterfront.
In 2021, ticket holders will get to sample low 'n' slow barbecue from local vendors and learn insider tips and tricks at masterclass demonstrations. Noel 'BBQ Jesus' Hassapladakis and James 'The Tattooed Butcher' Smith will combine their expertise to provide a masterclass in nose-to-tail preparation and cooking. Expect tips around knife sharpening, butcher knots and low 'n' slow barbecue in the four-hour class. Attendees will, of course, get to eat what is cooked.
There'll be pop-up restaurants galore, including already announced meat lovers Morepork BBQ, The Big Smoke BBQ Co., The Dog Father Hotdogs and The Four Saucemen, plus an on-site whiskey tasting room and fermentation tent filled with the country's best craft beer and cider.
If you really want to remember the occasion, The Rock FM will be dishing out free haircuts and a t-shirt printing press will pump out custom tees. All that plus live music, barbecue equipment demonstrations and extreme chilli eating competitions to determine who has the strongest iron stomach.
