Overview

It's been four long years since David Dallas' last album Falling Into Place satiated our appetite for clever, condemning lyricism hidden behind catchy hooks.

But there's nothing hidden about the cynic scattered across his latest offering Hood Country Club.

Billed as a bolder, darker and truer reflection of his return to New Zealand following impressive international success, Hood Country Club is more 'State of the Nation' address than just bass and beats, and his Auckland leg of the album release is not to be missed.

Openly critical of corporate irresponsibility, housing initiatives and self-confidence, Dallas eloquently lays out all of our worst social fears in what will linger on your mind long after the lights of the Powerstation turn back on.

Since impressing as an unknown on Scribe's 2003 banger 'Not Many', Dallas continues to deliver unapologetic opinions with razor-sharp delivery and in a time of such global unrest, I for one can't wait to see what promises to be a sell-out crowd, take it all in.
