Overview

US avant-rock six piece Dirty Projectors are heading to our shores for two dates this week, gunning their new song About To Die out to eager ears.

Led by multi-instrumentalist vocalist David Longstreth, Dirty Projectors formed in Brooklyn, New York and rose to prominence with their breakthrough 2009 album, Bitte Orca.

Dirty Projectors have visited New Zealand before, back in 2010, but this will be their first time here since the tragic passing of bassist, Gerard Smith in 2011. Now, with new bassist Nat Baldwin and a sixth studio album, Swing Lo Magellan, and an EP, About To Die, the band are back with their magic, curious live performances of unguarded melody and compelling skill.

Dirty Projectors blend siren-like three-part harmonies with delicate arrangements and bursting voices, commanding guitar work and impeccable technique.
