Overview

Billy Wilder's Hollywood classic film noir Double Indemnity will be screening at the Auckland Art Gallery free of charge as part of the California Design exhibition.

The 1940s classic based on the mystery novel by Raymond Chandler, tells the story of an insurance rep lured into committing murder and insurance fraud by a beautiful femme fatale. It is one of the better-known B-side movies of its time. Wilder is also known for co-writing Sunset Boulevard, and has earnt six Academy awards for his films The Apartment, Sunset Boulevard and The Lost Weekend.
