Wellington band Eb & Sparrow describe themselves as “soaring and grounded, dark and bright, dreamy and direct, country and Spanish, 1850s and 1950s, delicate and propulsive, all the while lamenting and laughing.”

The genre-defying five-piece has been honed their craft through the release of three EPs, as well as shows throughout the country. They’ve played everywhere from bars to folk clubs, festivals to house parties, and supported the likes of Rodriguez, Pokey LaFarge, Beth Orton and Wagons.

The band has just released their self-titled debut album through Home Alone Music. The 10 song collection was recorded by Lyttelton producer Ben Edwards at The Sitting Room studios. It intertwines lap-steel guitar, trumpet and electric guitars.
