Estere

Electric blue witch hop.

Overview

At just 21 years of age Estere has performed to audiences in Australia, South Korea and Europe. She's been juggling an increasingly hectic schedule of solo performances at festivals such as Camp A Low Hum and WOMAD while still studying at university.

The Wellingtonian's sound has been compared to the likes of Erykah Badu and New Zealand's own Kimbra, her singles "I Spy", "Cruel Charlie" and "Culture Clash" earning quite a few head nods on the circuit.

Estere, with the help of her MPC 1000 Sampling Station proudly dubbed Lola, has developed a unique style of music which the singer dubs as "electric blue witch hop". Using a series of loops recorded from live instruments, Estere and Lola have created a series of quirky, soulful and playful tunes derived from stories of imaginary boyfriends and the evolution of reptiles.

In celebration of her re-released debut self-titled album, Estere and Lola will be playing in four cities across New Zealand. Her Wellington performance is scheduled on Saturday 11 April at a secret location yet to be announced.
