Overview
Recently, when I was at the Concrete Playground head office in Darlinghurst, Sydney, I was introduced to Frances Coady. Frances was the director of Coady Group who represent the upcoming beauty and talent of Fantine.
This was back in July, where Frances questioned me on suitable live music venues in Auckland as he had pencilled in Fantine at Juice Bar. Having played at Juice Bar a number of times, I was able to confirm that, while it was a suitable venue for an up and coming artist with limited profile, I also confessed that Juice Bar was not well perceived by the indie crowd. Will this matter?
It shouldn't. After all, Fantine has recently been working with Jason Cox (Producer for The Gorrilaz) on her latest single and ultimately what Juice Bar does offer is the ability to get up close and personal to what will be a special one of performance by one of Australia's rising talents.
Fantine (full name Fantine Pritoula) was born in Moscow to a Russian father and a Dominican mother. Fantine spent her youth travelling and living in three countries she now calls home: Russia, the Dominican Republic, and Australia.
After a whirlwind 2010 that saw Fantine tour Australia as guest vocalist and co-writer with Space Invadas (featuring Katalyst and Steve Spacek) which included performances at Days Like This, Playground Weekender, Future Music, Golden Plains, Splendour in the Grass, and support slots with Lupe Fiasco, this is Fantine's time to shine on her first solo tour.
