Overview

Karangahape Road's popular street festival First Thursdays returns to a focus on style with it's annual Fashion Thursday All On K'Rd event, a celebration of the collective fashion gusto found on the strip. This year's iteration showcases 26 events clustered into precincts along the road, spread from the corner of Queen Street, to just around the corner heading to Ponsonby.

Fashion Thursday is designer markets, fashion parades, pop-up stores, craft workshops and exhibitions. Spring/Summer 2015 collections are hitting the racks and K'Rd's cafes, restaurants and stores will have one night specials galore. Highlights include a sneak preview of the upcoming NZ Fashion Museum exhibition of vintage beach fashion, a pin up modelling competition at Rita Sue and an exhibition of Sean Cai's beautiful fashion illustration series. Nick von K showcases his new season jewellery line with two on-street runway shows, while down on the West End, Jimmy D & Children of Vision open a pop up shop with new threads, samples, and previous season pieces. Contemporary designer spaces Tur and The Keep are each warming up the night with drinks and music. Keen to get crafty? Sew Love is hosting a mannequin styling competition, while the Underground Paper Doll Society takes over the Bread & Butter basement for an all ages paper doll workshop.
