Overview

The process of fermentation is praised for the production of good bacteria which can improve digestion, boost immunity and promote a healthy weight. The country's leading producers of gut-friendly goods will come together at Queens Wharf this March for Auckland's first celebration of fermentation.

The aptly-titled Ferment Festival will round up over 60 small producers crafting products that have been fermented at some point in their lifetime. The festival will be set up like a farmers' market, allowing ticket holders to wander as they taste samples or buy products direct from producers. You can expect specialist probiotic cheeses, kimchi, wine, kombucha, cider, cured meats, kefir, chocolate, yoghurt and bread.

A series of educational workshop will enlighten on the benefits of fermented goods and leading experts will host a range of interactive workshops and masterclass tastings. Learn how to master sourdough, how to make your own pickles and kimchi, and discover how well chocolate pairs with beer.
