Five Boroughs Late-Night Diner Pop-Up
Truffle fried chicken and crack fries by way of Wellington.
Overview
Before closing its doors for good in May, Wellington's Five Boroughs was a New York-style diner known for its bottomless coffee and decor lifted straight from a Woody Allen film. Last making an Auckland appearance in 2017 with a menu takeover at Culprit, the eatery can now be found as a pop-up in Ponsonby.
Every Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm until late, Five Boroughs serves up its American-influenced diner food in the backroom of Ponsonby Social Club.
Be sure to set aside a cheat day — the menu holds no punches with truffle fried chicken and crack fries topped with cheese and gravy. You can also expect an insane burger menu featuring a venison patty stuffed with truffle brie, a duck liver parfait creation using chicken schnitzel for buns and an eye-watering ten-patty stack.
The semi-permanent Five Boroughs Late-Night Diner Pop-Up is scheduled to wrap up at the end of September.
