Overview

Come Friday the tight confines of Vulcan Lane's Cassette Nine will be a sweaty mess of flailing arms, groove-ridden and glitch-filled beats, and jazz induced head swaying.

Brought up in Germany on a steady diet of instrumental hip hop, now based in London, but with Chilean family roots, Flako's beats are of a similarly peculiar mix to his pedigree. Once known for his neck-breaking, latin-inspired future beats, Flako has of late moved towards expanding his sound and his own musical capabilities. His new album Natureboy takes cues from the sun, water, and Jazz legends George Duke and Bo Hansson

Expect deep, expansive musical re-creations of Natureboy through live instruments, synthesizers, and his own vocals, as well as the possibility of a throwback to Flako's MPC/sample-driven days. Local support from Auckland's own internationally regarded beat whizz Ben Jamin, as well as Career Girls and Villette. Its $10 on the door, get there early to avoid missing out.
