This November, if you're not all about facial hair of the upper lip variety (and actually, even if you are), for 30 days you can celebrate 30 years of Flying Nun Records. This is Nunvember.

There are only 12 months in each year, and unfortunately this means that each month has to spread itself rather thinly, dedicating itself to many causes. This November, if you're not all about facial hair of the upper lip variety (and actually, even if you are), for 30 days you can celebrate 30 years of Flying Nun Records. This is Nunvember.

The record label that championed Kiwi punk, born from 80s Canterbury student flats, the Nun has swooped down on New Zealand, providing a whole raft of gigs across the nation to celebrate three decades of alternative Kiwi greatness.

"30 gigs has Nunvember", and Auckland gets a taste this Thursday night when The Clean, along with The Subliminals and Surf Friends wrap up a month of celebrations.

The Clean, lead by brothers David and Hamish Kilgour, were responsible for the auspicious hit Tally Ho which brought chart success to the label for the first time in 1981. The band, so obviously Nun, promise the perfect end to a whirlwind of hearty celebrations.
