Garage Project at Satya Chai Lounge
Auckland famous dahi puri and a stout spiked with cannabis.
Overview
Ahead of their appearance at mega beer festival GABS next weekend, Wellington's Garage Project will team up with the brains behind the impeccable Satya Spice and Chai Shop for a week of serious taste explosions.
As well as being part of Auckland Beer Week, the event series will serve as a soft launch for the second outpost of the Chai Lounge which is currently being assembled, coffee sacks and all, inside the Karangahape Road chapter of South Indian restaurant, Satya.
The pairing lines up nicely with Garage Project's contribution to GABS 2017. This year the beer maestros have created six beers inspired by drinks from the Silk Road, including their own rendition of Bhang Thandai, a traditional Indian drink that comes spiked with edible cannabis. The Garage Project version is a spiced milk stout that uses hemp seed oil from a Hawke's Bay producer alongside almonds, watermelon seeds, green cardamom, saffron and black pepper. You can also expect a ginger pineapple pilsner, a green tea and jasmine lager, and a cascara and cinnamon bock.
A total of 18 GP beers will be available at the week-long event, including six matched with Sammy Akuthota's favourite dishes from the Chai Lounge. If you've ever dropped by the original Chai hideaway you'll know to expect a spread of mouthwatering drinking snacks like the Auckland famous dahi puri, 'Kurryage' fried chicken, ridiculously moreish vegetable dumplings and Chicken 65.
The event will run until stocks last. No tickets are required. It opens from Monday 12 June - Sunday 18 June, 5:30-10pm.
