Girl Comics by Ralphi
Anecdotes, oddities, cigarettes and whiskey; Girl Comics is a collection of charismatic characters and comic narratives.
Overview
Anecdotes, oddities, cigarettes and whiskey; Girl Comics is a collection of charismatic characters and comic narratives by the dexterous hand of illustrator Ralphi (Lauren Marriott).
"My comics are drawn from my own experiences and those of my friends, who serve as my unwitting muses. Common themes of friendship, cosmic voyages, and everyday human and animal truths are impatiently inked and laced with a dark wit. I love reading comics and I hope guests to the exhibit will enjoy reading mine,” says Ralphi.
Girl Comics by Ralphi is the first of Saatchi and Saatchi's Spring exhibition programme, which features a line up of renowned local and international artists. Following Girl Comics is a retrospective exhibition which celebrates New Zealand's premier footwear designer Kathryn Wilson. The exhibition comprises 10 installations, one for each of Wilson's 10 years in the business. Rounding out the year is the first ever exhibition of John Hall's delicate carved polystyrene creations.
Saatchi and Saatchi Gallery hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
