Overview

Sojourn, the new album from psychedelic-indie band Glass Vaults has officially launched. The album name Sojourn means a “period of temporary residence,” with the root work coming from the French word for 'day' - Jour. Although I tend to not like stereotyping, this rather gypsy meaning fits perfectly with Glass Vaults' overall sound and vibe, and is the perfect name for this album.

The Wellington group have been touring the country since mid-September and are set to make their way to Auckland for a gig on October 9 at Golden Dawn - one of the last stops on their nationwide album release tour.

Led by Richard Larsen and Rowan Pierce, Glass Vaults are known for their subtle sounds in the electronic music scene. Though slightly folk, the group do not sit comfortably in that genre, branching out to more modern sounds to mix into their expansive repertoire. With the pairing of percussive elements and Larsen's understated, evocative vocals, the gig should be an ideal way to ease oneself into the weekend. Two notable songs on the album are the title-track 'Sojourn' and 'Sacred Heart'. The sweet sounds give a mellow vibe, which is sure to carry through the night.

The group take their inspiration from celebration, environment and love, which come across in this album and make for the perfect reasons to check out the event this Friday night. Door sales only.
