Overview

You may have seen Charles and Janine Williams' work scattered across the city, maybe you remember their activation Rain Art in Britomart as part of the Matariki Festival last year or the beautiful mural on the rear wall of the Papakura Art Gallery.

Now the artists are bringing their work inside the gallery and transforming the Fresh Gallery Ōtara into a contemporary marae space documenting the creative journey of artists of Māori descent.

Presenting their love for their Māori heritage in an urban environment, Charles and Janine's work echoes their passion for community and whanāu and offers a modern representation of our native birds and stories of the land to the world.

If you've never been to Fresh Gallery before, you are missing out big-time.
