Overview

Set between election night 2017 and when the Labour/Greens/NZ First collation comes to power, Sam Brooks' new play Jacinda is a suspenseful drama set against the backdrop of modern New Zealand politics that promises to explore our simultaneous desire for and fear of change.

This dramatic political production comes hot on the heels of Brooks' sellout play Burn Her earlier this year and no doubt promises to be another success for the award-winning New Zealand playwright and dramatist. He says "I wrote [Jacinda] to be an acknowledgment of the promise of New Zealand prior to the election — and a challenge for the country to meet that promise."

Directed by former Basement stalwart Sam Snedden, Jacinda will run at the community theatre from November 14 to 24, at 7pm. It lands in cahoots with The Actors' Program class of 2018.
