Overview

Branded "100% the boldest and weirdest music video director working today," by Time Out New York, stylish local pop artist Jonathan Bree is performing at the Hollywood Avondale on Friday, 2 November to celebrate the release of his third studio album Sleepwalker.

After making his name as the frontman for twee-pop legends The Brunettes, Bree has delved even deeper into the bizzare in Sleepwalker. By intertwining all of the best bits of the history of pop music, Bree has created something hyperbolically odd with an array of collaborators, including Princess Chelsea.

The run-up to its release saw Bree and his band don lycra and a set of masks at the Others Way in 2017 — a performance that was at the top of many critics lists. Jonathan Bree and his masked band will undoubtedly be in peak condition ahead of their Auckland show, having just returned from a tour of Europe.
