With all the great gift shops around plus three markets selling cute and kooky handcrafted and locally made gifts, your friends and family will thank you for doing so.

St Kevins Arcade 179 K Rd 12-3

Free earth friendly Christmas gift wrapping, free Day of the Dead face painting, free photo opportunities wearing a Frida Kahlo head-piece and encounter the Mexican folk saint, Santa Muerte, dispensing free sweets. There will also be various free workshops running from 12pm - 2pm:

1pm - Corset Q & A and fit session at the Corseterie
2pm - Discover your perfect Christmas red lipstick with Decadia - Vintage Beauty & Style

Bread and Butter Letter 225 K Road

Run by the NZ Fashion Museum, the Bread and Butter Letter will host fabric printing workshops by renowned New Zealand fabric artist Susan Holmes, winner and judge of the World of Wearable Arts awards. You will learn and apply some simple techniques to make a personal piece for yourself or as a Christmas gift.

Workshops run at 10am and 2pm, and last for 1.5 hours. Bring your own fabric, blank teatowel etc to print. Participation is free but numbers are very limited so booking is essential at [email protected]

La Gonda Arcade 203 K Road 11am - 3pm

The Spirit of Christmas Market will include stalls with art, designs and many goodies for the Christmas spirit including live music. Plus a workshop where you can make your own beautiful creations in the form of decorations as a gift to the Arcade; which you can exchange for a seed to take home and plant.

Kfm, 208 K Road (upstairs)

Held on December 14 and 15 from 12pm - 5pm, Kfm will be hosting a Christmas market for ethical and conscious consumers offering handmade, organic and sustainable goods. Art, craft, fashion and food will all be on sale with the day’s surround sounds supplied by resident radio jocks Kfm.
