It doesn't take long before you realise the uber talent behind another Philadelphia export. This should be quite a memorable performance at Newton's finest establishment.

Overview

American songsmith Kurt Vile, signed under Matador Records, will be delivering his highly demanded sound to the King's Arms this Thursday, 1 December, joined by his back-up band The Violators. Local legend Alistair Galbraith will also be performing.

The Philadelphian's first visit to New Zealand, his sound has been likened to The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. Once you listen to a couple of his tracks, you can see why, with his latest release Smoke Ring from my Halo, he covers Downtown Train. He has played at a number of international festivals, namely Pitchfork Music Festival and Roskilde, and more recently he was selected by none other than Animal Collective to perform at their All Tomorrow's Parties' festival.

As you filter through a number of his tracks and You Tube videos, it doesn't take long before you realise the uber talent behind another Philadelphia export. This should be quite a memorable performance at Newton's finest establishment.

You can download the free mp3 of his opening track The Creature here.
