Overview
If you ever suffer from FOMO - and as a millennial I’d be surprised if you don’t - this is the one night of Artweek you don’t want to miss.
For one night, the Auckland creative scene will be buzzing (well, more so than usual). Live art, late night hours at galleries, creative events, street food, the list goes on.
Get off work an hour early or put down that textbook and call it a night, you’re going to need the full four hours to get through everything. Down at Silo Park a series of abstract, mountainesque structures will be laid out for you to explore and you can start your career as an art collector and bid on artist EnuSirikige's street art down at Chuffed Cafe on High Street.
At the festival's heart in the newly renovated Khartoum Place you'll be able to check out performances like Fledgling by theatrical musical experience Blackbird Ensemble, free life drawing, and 95bFM DJs. Don’t even bother eating before you head out, there will be plenty of food for you to tuck into with The Food Truck, Roaming Dive, Toro Churro and Besos Latinos jumping on board.
The big brother of the city's art industry, the Auckland Art Gallery, is hosting an amazing lineup in association with the Pantograph Punch, including the reigning king of indie-pop Lawrence Arabia, an exhibition from China's preeminent moving image artist, Yang Fudong, and preview performances as part of the Tempo Dance Festival.
I told you this isn’t a night to miss.
