Overview
Presenting a veritable palatte of bedroom pop, New Zealand Music Month kicks off May 6 at Cassette Nine with some of New Zealand's brightest and best from our ever-strengthening electronic arsenal.
Hailing from the Hutt Valley in Wellington, headliner Benny's Videos (who you might know as Ben Bro, debut director of one very intense music video for Glass Vaults 'Life is the Show') presents a dreamy combination of pop synths and ethereal vocals to produce the soundtrack to your life. If you were of course lying in a sun-drenched meadow reminiscing on all your favourite moments.
The day-dream continues with Auckland-based house producer and scene regular Hugo Jay whose hypnotic club rhythms have become a crowd favourite since releasing his first LP 'Spent' for London label 'Coastal Haze' late last year.
Upping the tempo one decibel at a time, producer, vocalist and girl-wonder k2k commands your attention along with the jazzy-alt-funk offerings of A Band Called Success (brainchild of A Label Called Success) and futuristic dancehall from AZBO.
Make sure you RSVP for free entry or get in before 11pm for just five bucks (it'll cost you ten if you're hanging at the pre-party too long).
