Overview

If you've been wearing a miniskirt this summer, there's a designer you have to thank and you can applaud her fashion influence at a new exhibition.

Mary Quant: Fashion Revolutionary is a new exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, showcasing the works of the legendary fashion designer.

Having arrived in Aotearoa from the V&A museum in London, the exhibition takes a look at the life and work of the fashion icon who famously created a new look for modern women in the swinging sixties.

Known for being 'the face of the miniskirt', Quant's works were modelled by famous faces like Twiggy and Grace Coddington, and she soon became a role model for working women of a new generation.

Running until Sunday, March 13, the show brings together over 120 of Quant's garments as well as accessories, cosmetics, sketches and photographs. Tickets start at $20 for students and $24.50 for adults, but children under 12 can head in for free.
