Overview
Last December, the New Zealand Music Foundation released a wellbeing survey which showed, amongst other depressing statistics, that 39% of those in the industry have had suicidal thoughts in the past – 18% of those being in the last twelve months. Mind Games is a one-day independent music festival to raise funds for The Mental Health Foundation as well as awareness about mental health in New Zealand – focusing on the mental wellbeing of the musical and artist communities. A very worthy cause, if you ask us.
Held on Friday 9 June, the festival will include the likes of psychedelic groove act Ghost Wave, the Te Reo and English electronica band SoccerPractise, dream-pop artists Purple Pilgrims and a couple of others such as Peach Milk, Couchmaster, Heavy, Hugo Jay, Siobhan Leilani and a few more which will be announced closer to the time.
All profits raised by the event will be donated directly to The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. The New Zealand Mental Health Foundation's Health Events & Fundraiser Coordinator, Keshlar Inglis said that, "The money raised from this even will help The Mental Health Foundation create a society where all people can enjoy positive mental health and wellbeing."
