Overview

The relationship between mother and child is unlike any other. Often passing down knowledge and ways of relating to the world and culture.

Mohe Ofi is a term of endearment in Tonga, often referring to this relationship and the responsibilities a mother has to teach her Tongan culture to her children.

Artists, Tanya Edwards and Luisa Veakovi Fonua Nau both explore this dynamic in their work that is influenced by lessons taught by their mothers.

If you're still needing to organise a special something for those special people in your life, you may appreciate the public programming for this show. Get yourself to the gallery for a festive morning on Saturday 9 December between 10am and midday to join the artists in creating mixed media Christmas cards inspired by Mohe Ofi. You'll definitely win points with the family.
