Overview

If psychedelic rock is your thing, Moon Duo's show 'The Lightship' is for you.

Hailing from the United States, the musical act will perform tracks from their seventh album Stars Are The Light along with a visual show fitting for the restored cinema venue of Hollywood Cinema. The band's latest album features stripped back guitars, soft disco and electronics — a new sound for the Moon Duo since they began making music in 2009.

Moon Duo is made up of Ripley Johnson, who's instrument of choice is guitar, and Sanae Yamada on keyboard. While their music has evolved it consistently combines repetitive rhythms and saturated guitars.

The light box brings in the visual element of the show. It was created by artist Emmaunel Biard, who's said to have been inspired by 1970s discotheques and psychedelic experiences.

The Lightship event has been described as "...a genuine wow," by a New York-based publication. Tickets are $55 for general admission.
