DJ, producer and party starter Jamie Newman has been playing parties and festivals worldwide for numerous years. He is responsible for bringing a unique rave to Auckland's party scene — a morning party that will help you start your hump day with a huge grin on your face and leave you feeling refreshed for the day ahead.
Morning People is a midweek morning rave that takes place every Wednesday from 6.30–8am at Whammy Bar on K' Road. So far, the event has attracted some of NZ's best DJs such as Aroha, Dick Johnson, Sambora (Shapeshifter), Bulletproof and Greg Churchill.
"We want to keep on growing morning people, attracting larger crowds and bigger acts, and become a regular fixture on Auckland's morning calendar." says Jamie.
This week will see Sammie Whitaker provide the tunes. The turntablist's quick mixing and genre mashups have landed him spots at Caribbean beach bars, French night clubs and Samoan hip hop clubs. He's supported acts like Bloody Beetroots, Busy P, Boys Noize and Breakbot, and holds down a residency at Ponsonby Social Club.
Fresh from a residency in the Maldives, Sammie is a regular on the weekend club circuit and her chunky tech, house and heavy basslines have earned her a number of international gigs.
The $15 entry fee also includes complimentary Altezano Brothers coffee, Almighty organic juices vegan donuts from Tart Bakery and fresh fruit from Ooooby. Start your morning the right way with a rave like no other.
