UPDATE: MOTAT Christmas Lights tickets have completely sold out for 2023.

Christmas is approaching like a speeding tram, packed with festive cheer and a much-needed break from the decidedly less festive portion of the year — and that tram is pulling into the biggest stop in town right on time for MOTAT Christmas Lights.

Per the transport museum's annual tradition, these Christmas lights will shine over 12 nights, every Wednesday through Saturday, from December 6–23, with a range of colourful and Christmas-y activities spread across the museum's Great North Road site.

Hop aboard the vintage trams partly towards Western Springs and back, enjoying the decorations as you go, before travelling on foot to find carol singers, outdoor games and festive foods aplenty. Keep your eyes peeled for Santa when you visit. Should you or anyone in your party need a break, there's a low-sensory cottage that serves as a safe and quiet space.

Whether you've booked for a date night, a family experience, or to enjoy the season with friends, this is an experience everyone can appreciate.
