Godfather of Ethio-Jazz, Mulatu Astatke, returnsvwith the Black Jesus Experience.

Considered the finest figure head in the recent history of Ethiopian music, Mulatu Astatke is a shining light in a genre that blends latin jazz and first wave soul and funk motifs with traditional musical ideals.

Loved and respected by jazz, beat, hip hop and world music acts he’s considered a phenomenal live entertainer, with a smile adorned stage precense that is energetic and a real joy to witness.

Last time he visited Auckland, Mulatu Astatke led a colourful and vibrant performance backed by his Australian/Ethiopian ensemble band, The Black Jesus. Fusing traditional song with jazz, funk and hip hop they have toured together throughout Europe.
