Overview

Cult band, Neutral Milk Hotel, are set to play two shows on consecutive dates at the Kings Arms in November this year. The indie rock band was formed by singer, guitarist and songwriter Jeff Mangum in the late 1980s and is noted for its 'experimental sound, obscure lyrics and eclectic instrumentation'.

The group have been on hiatus since 1998 after their most recent studio album, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea and its associated tour. Mangum moved from Georgia to Colorado to prepare most of the album with producer Rob Schneider. The album was the sixth best selling vinyl a decade after its release in 2008.

Apart from a live album in 2001 and an album of Bulgarian music in 2002, the band have maintained a low profile, however lead singer Mangum played a string of solo dates three years ago.

Following a string of shows in the US, the group are set to tour Australasia before heading to Taipei and Tokyo. The group have just revealed plans for two European dates of their reunion tour, the Primavera Sound and Optimus Primavera Sound festivals in Barcelona and Portugal this time next year.

NMH's tracks include 'Oh Comely' and 'Holland, 1945'. The touring lineup will feature Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster and Jeremy Barnes.
