Overview

Have you always dreamed of running a marathon? Or maybe you just want to perfect your running skills? If the answer to either question is yes, head along to Saturday Sessions, a five-week training series hosted by sneaker brand New Balance and group fitness movement Fitness All Together.

Designed to get runners ready for the Auckland marathon (set for Sunday, October 29), Saturday Sessions is all about giving running a go with experts by your side. You don't have to be running the marathon to take part, with every level of runner encouraged to hit the pavement.

Each Saturday Session is held at a different space across Auckland, and are all focused on a different aspect of running. For example, on October 14 the group will be hosting a session focusing on interval training sessions where runners will be switching speeds to increase their pace overall. Whereas the session on October 28 is all about preparing mentally and physically before the Auckland marathon the next day, with a run just to keep your legs warm, followed by a slow yoga session to calm the race day nerves.

The following weekend, the team is at it again, with a marathon debrief session on Saturday, November 4. There's no rest of the wicked — runners can expect to be put to work while having a good yarn about their marathon milestones.

The sessions are absolutely free, and catered by Almighty and Supreme coffee. Not only that, if you attend at least four of the sessions you'll be walking away the proud owner of a pair of New Balance FuelCell Propel v4s or Fresh Foam 1080v13s, two of the brands newest models developed using runner's data at New Balance HQ in Boston.
